Vitamin Sea Beauty Review: Sea Kale & Hyaluronic Acid Complex Rejuvenating Skin Serum

2 Mins read

For several years, hyaluronic acid serums have dominated the moisturizing skincare product space. Hyaluronic acid is an excellent humectant and is inexpensive to formulate with. This makes hyaluronic acid an attractive ingredient for brands to use. However, if you want to switch your moisturizing serum from just a standalone hyaluronic acid serum, the VitaminSea.Beauty Sea Kale & Hyaluronic Acid Complex Rejuvenating Skin Serum is an alternative you should consider.

This is my vitamin sea beauty review of their Sea Kale and Hyaluronic Acid Complex Rejuvenating Skin Serum.

The Sea Kale & Hyaluronic Acid Complex Rejuvenating Skin Serum is a serum formulated to be “calming for stressed skin.”

Barrier repair and barrier-soothing products are trendy right now. With the increased interest and attention to skincare, we are bound to mess up and irritate or damage our skin barrier. These barrier repair and soothing serums can be very helpful and course correct when mistakes are made.

The Sea Kale & Hyaluronic Acid Complex Rejuvenating Skin Serum comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. It is a pale green color and smells very refreshing and botanical. It has a thick consistency and dries down onto your face a little tacky. I purchased mine from ULTA Beauty, and it was very affordable at ~$12 for a 2-ounce bottle.

Vitamin Sea Beauty Review: Things I Loved

The Smell

While everyone does not like fragrance in their skincare, and some people have reactions to it, I can tolerate products with a fragrance well. I loved the smell of the product because it amplified the soothing experience that the formulators were going for with the ingredients used in the product.

The formulation

If you don’t want to have a lot of different steps in your routine, this product has Niacinamide, Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin E. This means you are getting some hydration and antioxidant functions all in one serum.

I like that it had many actives all formulated into one product so that I could use it as an all-in-one on days that I did not feel like going through my entire routine. It was also beneficial when I traveled to take one product versus three.

The Product Does Contain a Fragrance

It smells botanical and refreshing, like a scent you would expect in a spa. I am not sensitive to fragrances, so this was something I liked about the product; however, if you have skin that is sensitive to fragrances, this may not be the product for you.

If you have sensitive skin and are still interested in trying out the product patch test the product before applying it to your entire face.

All of the Actives May Not Be Effective

One of the things that I liked about the product is that it is well formulated with many great ingredients to be great for a “lazy” day.

However, one of the “actives” in the product is not the most helpful in its category of chemicals.

The product contains retinyl palmitate. Retinyl palmitate is a very stable retinol form, but it is the most ineffective of all types of retinoids. The stability of retinyl palmitate makes it easier to formulate, but the functionality in the skin is little to none.

So using this product will not give you the benefits of using a retinoid.

Summary

The product had a delightful smell to me. It was also a great addition to my luggage when I travel. This well-formulated product saved me from having to pack a bunch of different serums. I also love it for a day when I am a little tired and only have the energy to wash my face and go to bed. I definitely plan to repurchase this product.
