Rhode Skin has made quite a splash in the skincare world, amidst a sea of celebrity beauty brands. It’s refreshing to see a brand consistently delivering affordable, effective products with real results. When they launched their Peptide Lip Treatment late last year (November 2022), it flew off the shelves. I managed to snag one, but I was still finishing up my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask at the time. As soon as I ran out of the Laneige, I couldn’t wait to give the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment a try. So here’s what I thought of it!
What’s in the Rhode Skin Peptide Lip Treatment
So, what’s inside this little tube of goodness? Peptides are all the rage in skincare these days, and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 is the star of the show here. Tripeptide-1 is a collagen fragment and a key component of the popular peptide combination known as Matrixyl. The formulation is generously packed with emollients and moisturizing ingredients that not only hydrate your lips but also work to soften them. And don’t forget the antioxidant vitamins, which lend a hand in protecting your lips when you’re out and about in the sun (although, let’s be clear, sunscreen is still a must).
The Feel and Smell
The moment you apply this treatment, your lips instantly feel softer, especially if you apply it to slightly damp lips. I couldn’t help but keep reapplying because it felt so good. One standout feature is that it has a glossy finish but dries down to a semi-gloss, so your lips don’t look overly shiny. I personally picked up the watermelon slice version, and it smells absolutely delightful. But fret not, if you’re not a fan of fragrance, they also offer an unscented version.
Does the Lip Treatment Deliver Results?
Thanks to the nourishing ingredients, my lips felt immediately softer and appeared plumper. However, it’s worth noting that I didn’t experience a long-term plumping effect. It’s important to set realistic expectations – topical products can provide a temporary boost, but you won’t magically achieve lip filler results. What you can expect is some reduction in fine lines on your lips because they’re getting a good dose of moisture, giving them a plumper appearance.
Is It Worth the Money?
At just $16 a tube, this product offers excellent value for your hard-earned money. During my time with it, I carried it everywhere and found myself reaching for it constantly. It lasted me about a month, and I’ll definitely be repurchasing it. It’s become my go-to daytime lip treatment for when I’m on the move or not wearing any lip color.
How Does it Compare To Other Lip Treatments?
Initially, I thought this might be an alternative to my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, but they serve slightly different purposes. I now use them both simultaneously and love the feeling of waking up with super moisturized lips from the Laneige mask and then maintaining that moisture with the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment throughout the day.
As we approach the winter months in the United States, this lip duo will be a lifesaver in preventing dry, cracked lips.
A more accurate comparison would be to the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm, and I really like that lip treatment, but they have totally different feels and dry down. The Rhode Skin peptide lip treatment is definitely more nourishing and makes your lips feel softer. It also applies more viscous liquid while Summer Fridays is a lot thicker and more tacky when you apply. So I would give the Rhode Skin Lip Treatment a slight edge over the Summer Friday Lip Butter Balm.
Things I Loved:
- The feel when you are applying the product. It applies so smoothly and really does melt into your lips
- The semi-glossy finish when it dries down
- The plump appearance of my lips when I applied it
Things to Be Mindful Of:
- The packaging – it would be perfect if I could squeeze out every last bit!
In a nutshell, I loved this product Rhode Beauty Peptide Lip Treatment. It delivers on its promises, leaving your lips smoother, plumper, and more youthful. It is definitely a permanent addition to my beauty arsenal, especially rolling into the winter months.
